Caxixi (Ka-shi-shi)
One of the things I really like about Ana, my flat mate, is her spontaneity and openness. We were walking around our new neighborhood with Kritika, and suddenly, we hear her exclaim “PUPPY!!” The next thing I know, I’m being asked if we can keep him (ahem). I shrugged my shoulders and said “sure!?” My attempt to be open can get me into trouble; it has a few times in the past, and, I had difficulty adjusting, during our first 3 days with Caxixi, to a crazy project deadline, and a little someone who demanded constant attention, cleaning after and needed training. Ana told me a few days ago that she didn’t think I would say “Yes”. We were not sure if we were going to keep him (ahem); now, there is no doubt. At least for now, he (ahem) is with us.
Caxixi likes feet. He (ahem) will charge at your feet and try and bite your toes off. We’re teaching him (ahem) not to bite, so now he goes through a colossal struggle with himself (ahem) of whether to bite, smell or lick your toes. A few days ago, he (ahem) learnt to climb up on a lap, with a bit of support, and this is now his favorite thing to do. He (ahem) will cuddle up in your lap and fall asleep there. He (ahem) follows you everywhere you go, and likes to walk very close, and preferably, in between your feet. Some clumsy people (that would be me) have stepped on his (ahem) toes a few times. Well, tit for tat! He (ahem) bites, I accidently step on his (ahem) toes! He (ahem) also likes to play the staring game and can stare at you for a few minutes while you’re left wondering what’s going on in his (ahem) mind.
AHEM – Kritika's father saw Caxixi and told us, that Caxixi is a she. So one week after calling Caxixi a he, we’re finding it a bit difficult adjusting to calling her a she!
